Social app MVP
MemeMatch
Social app where people meet through memes and shared sense of humor.
Overview
MemeMatch tested a simple bet: it is easier to start a conversation from shared humor than from another dating profile. The MVP worked with early users, and a viral TikTok gave the project serious reach.
Problem
Classic dating apps start with a photo and a bio. That is fast, but often shallow. We wanted to test whether humor could be a better start for a relationship.
Product bet
If two people laugh at the same memes, they have a natural reason to start talking.
What I built
- Social app MVP around meme-based matching.
- Roadmap, sprints, ICP, BMC, and early PMF assumptions.
- User flows created closely with a UX designer.
- Validation with early adopters and mobile launch preparation.
- AI for meme search, tagging, categorization, and recommendations.
AI layer
The AI layer helped organize and understand memes: tags, categories, similarity, and recommendations. A separate experiment, Karolina, explored a persona/assistant for MemeMatch.
Architecture
Flutter + Firebase. The product was prepared as a mobile app with a landing page and launch path.
Key decisions
- Test user behavior before building a full platform.
- Use humor as the main matching signal instead of heavy profiles.
- Small team and fast sprints over heavy product process.
- Use AI for working with content, not as decoration.
Outcome / evidence
MVP for the first 300 users, ~6000 leads around launch, a viral TikTok with 500k+ views, and 2nd place at KRK Pitch Contest.
What I would do next
If I came back to MemeMatch today, I would refresh onboarding, recommendations, and retention, probably with stronger AI personalization.
